iPhone Repair Do's and Don'ts
I have been repairing iPhones now for almost 11 years.
The iPhone 4 was the first iPhone I disassembled, and it was not easy.
Throughout the history of iPhones, the process of the repairs have gotten easier in some ways, and more difficult in others.
Here are a few tips for diagnosing the issue with your iPhone.
If your screen stops responding to touch in a few areas, or just one, then your digitizer is most likely bad.
Sometimes, this can also be caused after a hard drop. The cable can get slightly disconnected and cause some portions of the screen to malfunction.
The repair process could be as simple as re-seating the connections inside, or as difficult as replacing the whole screen.
If you spill a liquid on your iPhone, be prepared.
The first step is to wipe away the liquid and shake the phone. Wipe to the sides, not the top and bottom. You do not want the water to get into your home button or ear speaker.
Note: There are rubber gaskets around the underside of these two locations, but it is better to be safe than sorry.
Swollen batteries are dangerous. They swell due to a mixing of the chemicals inside the battery. Once the gases start expanding the battery, it will get to a point that the gases need to vent out.
If the battery tears open to vent, the metals inside can cause a spark, and then huge flames.
If your battery is hard to charge, or it seems that your phone screen is rising away from the inside of the phone, then your battery may be in the first stages of venting.
Please be very careful, this is not a repair process that I recommend anyone does at home.
